You, the Priest

The work of priests was drastically transformed when Jesus imparted the ministry of Melchizedek to His servants. He ended the priestly work of the sons of Aaron when He offered His own blood at Passover. He made possible the fulfillment of the desire of His Father from Exodus 19, that His people would be a kingdom of priests.

By their responsibility and authority to intercede between their Savior King and other humans, all believers were given priestly functions. Paul explained that the leadership of believers into all their various ministries was made possible when Jesus gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to His ekklesia (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Constantine presumptuously changed that design when he and his mother imposed a priesthood on believers that was in the same style as the priesthoods of worshipers of demons and principalities in his empire. This replacement of supernatural leadership with clergy was the context that produced popes, the holy roman empire, and the slaughter of many thousands of believers for their refusal to submit to the authorities ordained by earthly kingdoms instead of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Your responsibility and authority to serve the King of Heaven are in His mind as He considers you and interacts with you. If your calling is not clear, or if you don’t know how to be made ready for it, ask. He wants you to know all about it and to succeed at all of it.

Be awesome.
