Who Signed Your Certificate?

I have seen many certifications from underwriters, and diplomas from universities, and licenses to do things ranging from driving to preaching. Most were signed by important leaders in the organization that issued the documents. My license to drive is signed by the governor.

I believe that it is rare that the person signing the document knows the person endorsed by the document. Somebody who passes a test can get the papers. The papers have an important person’s signature printed on them.

We spend most of our lives looking for endorsements that don’t really mean anything. They may be tickets to a show, or access to money, or appearances of approval, but they are not able to add actual value to our lives, especially in any eternal sense, which is the most valuable sense.

Jesus added real value to our persons and our lives when He marked us for eternal life. He makes our lives abundant. He gives true, personal, first-hand endorsement of who we are and why we are.

When you are seeking a sense of self-worth, or shaking off someone’s condemnation or insult, look to the perspective of the throne over all the universes. Jesus knows you. He knows what you have done and what you have failed to do. He knows why you are in the earth in these days. He loves you and wants to bless you. If you have questions about your character or value or purpose, ask Him. If anyone has advice or opinion that differs from His, accept His.

When the entry of your name was made in His book of life, He signed His beside it as the Authority making the entry. Be satisfied with that endorsement and stop worrying about everyone else’s.
