The Trinity

I had a conversation with a young man recently about our God’s nature. We were discussing the theology that he had been taught as a child and examining it in light of Scripture. His instruction regarding the identity of Yahweh and how to interact with Him was that we could only interact with Jesus, could not presume to approach His Father, and that the Holy Spirit is not really a person, but just His power being present to change things or let people in on information sometimes.

We looked at Luke 11, where a disciple asked Jesus to teach His disciples to pray, like John had taught his disciples. Jesus replied, “Whenever you pray, say, ‘Father…’” (Luke 11:1-4).

We looked at John 16, where Jesus was giving some instruction before He left the last supper to begin His day of sacrifice. Jesus said, “When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.” (John 16:7-14)

He hasn’t read the Book yet. That means that any movie that comes along pretending to be the screenplay of the real thing can fool him into or out of anything. If you haven’t read the Book a few times by now, you may be late starting. Be safer from scams of demons.
