Love and Worship
Anger, fear, insult – these and other powers can poke a pin in our self-control and expose things that surprise us as they burst forth. Just as Peter cursed as he denied knowing Jesus, we have all uttered curses and accusations and bitter insults when we found ourselves under pressure from attackers or accusers.
Our responses can be worship of Jesus and love of our accusers, though. The way to prepare for that to be true is to make worship of Jesus and love of others our responses in the easy circumstances, too. When our habit internally is worship and blessing, those will be our responses with little thought or effort in the difficult circumstances. The power to respond properly to both ease and difficulty is in the presence of the Holy Spirit, and submission to His desires and character.
