Gossip or Love

A gossip goes around revealing a secret,
but the trustworthy keeps a confidence.

A contrary man spreads conflict,
and a gossip separates friends.

The one who reveals secrets is a constant gossip;
avoid someone with a big mouth.

Without wood, fire goes out;
without a gossip, conflict dies down.
As charcoal for embers and wood for fire,
so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.
A gossip’s words are like choice food
that goes down to one’s innermost being.

(Proverbs 11:13; 16:28; 20:19; 26:20-22, Holman Christian Standard Bible ®©)

Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard. He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent. Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. Then Shem and Japheth took a cloak and placed it over both their shoulders, and walking backwards, they covered their father’s nakedness. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father naked.
When Noah awoke from his drinking and learned what his youngest son had done to him, he said:
Canaan will be cursed.
He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers.

Above all, keep your love for one another at full strength, since love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining.

Many believers have brought more strength to unclean spirits by gossiping while pretending to share “prayer needs.” Accusing people in public of sin is frequently a work of unclean spirits pretending to speak for Yahweh. Canaan was cursed by Noah for his father Ham’s gossip. The curse was executed by Yahweh through the descendants of Israel.

Intercession and love are powerful against sin. Gossip and accusation are not. Sin shouldn’t be swept under the rug, but it should be put under the blood.
