Storing a Foundation

I have a friend who is struggling with a new business because he is having trouble gaining capital. There is a proverb, “You have to have money to make money.” The investment of money as a beginning of a business can be considered a “foundation,” on which the business is built.

Paul could see that what we build as spiritual “capital” for eternity is coming from the ways that we invest whatever the King puts in our hands in this life. Some may generate much income that is useful in this life, but in order to “take it with you when you die,” you must invest it properly:

Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God,who richly provides us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the age to come, so that they may take hold of life that is real.
