Righteous Thinking

E. Stanley Jones once wrote, “It is easier to live yourself into right thinking than it is to think yourself into right living.” For us to be able to walk in righteousness, our goal needs to be set at a much higher target than merely right and wrong or good and evil. The map to righteousness can be found in audio format like your GPS setting that allows the vocal instructions. It is the voice of your Shepherd. He knows the way because He is the Way.

Adam and Eve did not gain the ability to discern good from evil when they ate the fruit of the tree of death. They only gained the knowledge that there is good, and there is evil. Being naked all the time was cool until they ate from the tree of death. Then it made them ashamed.

Their ability to get a list of right and wrong activities was still limited to their own ideas. When Yahweh gave Israel the laws that He dictated through Moses, it was just to prove to them that they were guilty, not empower them to righteousness, according to Paul (Romans 7:13-20).

The Tree of Life is Jesus. Taste and see that He is good. Listen to Him and obey Him through the fruit of the Spirit which is goodness.
