Listening In
Usually, if I am overhearing half a conversation by being present with one of the participants while they talk on a phone with the other participant, I have questions when the conversation ends. You have the same limitations when you read a letter that was written as part of a discussion. The letter is just longer, and the conversation is moving much slower.
Still, even if you only get one side of the process, you have more than you did before reading the letter. If you would like to look into half a conversation about how believers gathered in the congregations that were influenced by Paul as an apostle to them, read 1 Corinthians 11-14.
