2 + 2

If I take up the belief that 2 + 2 = 5, any other idea that I apply that misbelief to will be wrong, as well. If I am convinced that I can be carnally minded, and still have entrance now or inheritance later in the Kingdom of Heaven, I will be sternly convinced of the truth when it is too late to gain advantage from it.

Paul wrote that to be carnally minded is death, and to be Spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6). I need to have no questions about what being carnally minded means, then, because it is important! In Latin languages, “carne” means “meat” or “flesh.” Carnality, then, means having a mindset or values set that gains its strength or values or motives from what flesh values. Carnal minds value comfort, pleasure, competition, and praise, and are ruled by pride, fear, and greed. Paul listed what he called “the works of the flesh” in Galatians 5:19-21. The influence of the values, motives, and strengths that come from the Spirit of God are called there “the fruit of the Spirit,” in verses 22-23. Let your mind be formed by them.
