Perpetual Power

In the 30’s and 40’s and 50’s, so many inventions were becoming possible because of advances in technologies of both materials and manufacturing that some people started to believe that they could design a “perpetual motion machine.” That concept meant that once you started the engine, whatever it was, that it would not only do some sort of work, but that it would create enough power to run itself. The problems with the attempts always led back to one physics law: you can’t make something out of nothing. You can’t create energy without using up energy. You can convert one kind of energy to another, but you have to have input to generate output.

Similar dynamics govern your emotional and spiritual and physical energies. If you are going to have physical action, you have to have physical energy to burn. You have to eat or drink something. If you are going to have strength for dealing with costly people, you have to have emotional input that is energetic. The fruit of the Spirit of God is a never-ending supply of that kind of power.

You have to stay actively in proximity to the Spirit of God to gain spiritual strength. It forms in you as a spiritual gift, as anointing for power to access wisdom, authority, and stamina, also by the fruit of the Spirit. Staying in proximity to the godly people Yahweh has called you to work with also adds a dimension of power that is unavailable otherwise.

You are eternal, but you aren’t perpetual without input. If you don’t take responsibility for input, you may compromise your ability to be responsible for output. Also, as a contrast, if you are not open to input, if you are not humble and directable, it will be difficult for you to be useful. The input you need is the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus.
