Costs of the Harvest

If I purchase a vehicle, the amount which I pay for it will be stuck in my mind. If I have to then take it to a mechanic for expensive repairs, that fee will be added to the cost in my mind.

Jesus, though, did not look at the cost of having us any longer than it took to come up with the payment. He paid the price on the cross to purchase us with the joy of having the “future us” set before him as His focus. His attention is on who we will become in Him. It is important for us to be properly distracted by His hope of the character and value we will manifest as life goes on.

Additionally though, while we still have flesh needing to be motivated to walk in spiritual things, it is appropriate for us to constantly consider the cost He paid and the manner in which He made payment for us to have life. We would do well to make a view of His cross be the strength that makes us able to take ours up. We were crucified with Him, we died with Him, and He now gives us life by living in us. The lives we now live, we live by faith in Him, because He loved us and gave Himself for us.
