Valuably Weak

Even if I wanted to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me, or with these surpassingly great revelations.

So to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Paul is a pretty unusual person. Does that mean, though, that his consideration of weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and difficulties should be unique to his life and experiences? I believe that it is possible that we each could become more mature more quickly and become more productive and effective in spiritual matters if we asked the Spirit Who raised Jesus from the dead to raise us into a place in which we could understand the value of baptisms we experience.

Here is a study of baptisms as observed in the Bible. Most of the material in the first 8 pages is related to understanding the words used to indicate experiences of baptism in the Scriptures. From the 8th page, the study is based on what baptisms can change in our lives when we allow them to.
