Imagine That

That part of our brain that is designed to make us afraid is very effective when we let it be. It will help us when we see some situation suddenly become bad, like a strange noise in the car motor, or being called to the boss’s office, or a bad grade on a test, or… or… or…

If we listen to the narrative it will give us about what it thinks is most likely to happen next, it will always have us imagining being broke, homeless and friendless in less than three minutes. Always.

You would have to do it intentionally, but you can create the opposite type of narrative if you like. You don’t even have to wait for a crisis. You don’t even have to be out of bed yet.

Imagine things going better than you can imagine. Imagine provision and protection and wisdom and honor and love and blessing and understanding and friendship and success pouring over you all day, to the point that you have to share some of it because you don’t have room for that much blessing. Imagine that.

Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Live like that.
