Kingdom Investments

What are you investing in the Kingdom of Heaven? What dividends are you receiving?

We each have some money. Each of us has some time. We have understanding and information. The amount of each we invest in what is decided by answering questions each day. Some of the questions are in the form of demands; we have beggars on one side and our King on the other. Yet, on days, when we bless a beggar, we have blessed our King. We have religious demands that are sometimes opposed to the work of our King.

Investing our emotions before investing our different forms of wealth will change how we decide what we invest where. It can also change what we expect in return for the sacrifices we make. We could be turning something of value into something of greater value to us, we could be keeping someone else afloat in the struggles of their life, we could be hoping to see Jesus smile.

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of people, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. I assure you: They’ve got their reward! But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

“Don’t collect for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
(Matthew 6:19-21 HCSB ©®)

“Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
(Luke 6:38 HCSB ©®)
