Focus on the Project
Nehemiah did not finish rebuilding a wall around Jerusalem by focusing on answering Tobiah and Sanballat. His focus was on the honor of his God and on the memory of his ancestors. Sanballat and every other distraction and distress were answered, but sometimes simply by being told there was no time to waste answering them.
Our success in the lives that have been laid out ahead of us to walk in will come by continually asking the Holy Spirit to lead and correct and empower us. Our submission to our God is what causes our enemies to flee from us. When we answer every danger and opportunity with a response that is formed through the influence of the fruit of the Spirit of Jesus, we will find eternal value and reward.
Ask for strength more often than comfort. Ask for wisdom more often than reasons. Ask for opportunity more often than a place to hide. Be a lightning rod that draws into your sphere the power of the One Who breathed the stars. Even our lives can be different as we read the story of how Nehemiah responded to his circumstances. Change what you can of the world and the future by the way you respond to yours. Be awesome.
