The Death Was Mine

For Christ’s love compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: if One died for all, then all died. And He died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died for them and was raised.
(2 Corinthians 5:14-15 HCSB ©®)

Jesus died my death. That means that my death has happened. I didn’t have to do it, but it did happen.

What happens next is life. The death was mine, and the life is His. Every thought, every action, every possession, every relationship should be under His ownership and influence and valuation.

Be filled with the Spirit Who can lead you into all things, and teach you all things, and deliver you from evil. Be empowered to overcome the world with the Life He shares with you, because He overcame the world. Be true to the identity you now have in Him, and release the identity He now has in you.
