My Unbelief

When you write a check to pay a bill, you are not focused on the debt, but on the payment. The value of the check is sufficient to overcome the strength of the demand for payment.

When we pray with more confidence in the strength of the need than in the likelihood of an answer being sufficient, we are bending under the power of the debt rather than being carried in the power of our God. Faith is a fruit of His Spirit. We don’t muster it – we allow it.

“How long has this been happening to him?” Jesus asked his father.
“From childhood,” he said.
“And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
Then Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ Everything is possible to the one who believes.”
Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe! Help my unbelief.”
