Aligned With the Good News

The Spirit of Jesus is at work convincing some people they are guilty of sin. Other people, He is at work convincing that His sacrifice paid for their sin. Others, He is working to convince He can free from their sin and foolishness.

Your preaching needs to line up with His when you approach someone. If you are preaching that Jesus died for their sins, but He has not yet convicted them, your good news seems like irrelevant news to them. If your good news is simply that they deserve to burn in the lake of fire for their evil lives, and He has already convicted them, you don’t even have news, much less good news.

If you listen to Him before they have to listen to you, you may have the privilege of helping them take the next step. If your gospel comes in a can, like Spam, it might not be good news. Becoming a son or daughter of Yahweh doesn’t happen like passing your spelling exam. It comes by hearing His invitation to surrender your life to Him and get His life in return. No one can get it without Him inviting them. Our work must be aligned with His, like His was with His Father’s.

Ask Him what today is for. Ask Him what to say next. Say that. Ask Him what to do next. Do that. Be awesome!
