News of the Kingdom

Rewards are attained, gifts are obtained. Becoming a son or daughter of Yahweh is a gifted privilege. He chose to bless us, we chose to receive the blessing.

On the happy day when we are blessed to hear, “Well done, good and faith filled servant!” we will hear it based on obedience to assignments and instructions from our King. That will be privilege also, but the reward will be based on the well “done.”

The gospel (“good news”) about salvation includes the truth about receiving the gift of Life. The gospel (“good news”) about the Kingdom includes the truth about receiving the reward by how we live. The gospel of the Kingdom is not another gospel regarding salvation, as Paul mentioned in Galatians 1:6-11 or 2 Corinthians 11:3-6. As he made clear in 2 Corinthians 11:4, something he would call “another gospel” would be related to another path to salvation. We are blessed with much more than one bit of good news! Paul preached the gospel of salvation, and the gospel of the Kingdom (Acts 28:23-31). He also preached the gospel of the uncircumcision, and stated that Peter preached the gospel of the circumcision (Galatians 2:7).

The two basic things Paul ever talked about were that Jesus is Savior and Jesus is King. We should be walking in both of those gospels and preaching them. Jesus said that the end would not come until we had preached the gospel of His Kingdom to the ends of the earth (Matthew 24:14). We have hardly begun. No one knows the date because we don’t know how pitiful we will be at completing the prerequisite work.
