Save From Unbelief

While He was still speaking, people came from the synagogue leader’s house and said, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher any more?”

But when Jesus overheard what was said, He told the synagogue leader, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe.” He did not let anyone accompany Him except Peter, James, and John, James’ brother.

He went away from there and came to His hometown, and His disciples followed Him. When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these things?” they said. “What is this wisdom given to Him, and how are these miracles performed by His hands? Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren’t His sisters here with us?” So they were offended by Him.

Then Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his household.” So He was not able to do any miracles there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He was amazed at their unbelief.

Yahweh told Abram to leave his people and follow Him to another land. Instead, Abram brought his dad with him, which cost him much time when his dad wanted to camp out at a town that had the same name as a son he had lost in death. Abram also brought Lot with him, which cost him much time and many resources repeatedly, as when he had to rescue Lot from kidnappers and when Lot wanted to take the best land from Abram (Genesis 13).

On days, Jesus separated Himself from people who could not believe so that He could do His work. When you have something important to do, the people who are with you should be co-operating with you and with the Spirit by faith, or you should be alone until the work is done. Pray for help if you can’t do it alone, but don’t invite a host of unbelief to the event.
