New, You

Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Discerning information is the act of testing that information by separating the parts that make it up and by comparing it to other information that is different. It takes the visible or examinable and converts it from data to information. Data is just lists of facts. Using the lists to inform decisions is changing the facts to information.

When we are so mentally advanced past the physical senses being our only sources of data to being able to receive revelation from the Spirit of Jesus, we become discerning enough to listen to information that only a new mind can grasp. I once thought stealing was acceptable in some circumstances, even though it was against the law. Now, because stealing is clearly not loving my neighbor, it doesn’t matter if it is illegal or not, I will not steal. My mind is renewed in that area of thought.

There are concepts that we will gain access to when we devalue our flesh and allow our renewed, reborn spirits to influence our minds. Some improvements will include understanding the “why” of some of Yahweh’s actions. Peter was not capable of grasping the value or purpose of the cross until the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit filled him. Then, he preached the value of the cross so effectively that thousands of people believed and received eternal life. Be renewed!
