Being Certain and Humble

Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into His hands, that He had come from God, and that He was going back to God. So He got up from supper, laid aside His robe, took a towel, and tied it around Himself. Next, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel tied around Him.

We are not all prophets. We may be able to predict some of the future, though. We should have enough of the future in our minds and hearts to know that being proud in our current states is silly and likely to be costly. What can it cost us to be humble, instead?

Jesus knew where He had come from and where He was going, so He had no problem humbling Himself and washing His students’ feet. Is there anything that keeps us from being humble, especially around people who would take the advantage of our humility and use it to abuse us?
