Missed Opportunities

You may not see many opportunities to serve Jesus very effectively in your school, your job, neighborhood, or trips to buy groceries. It is probably always a good presumption to believe that there is more around us than we happen to perceive, though.

Elisha’s servant walked out of their home one morning and saw more than he wanted to see – they were surrounded by an enemy army. Elisha could see more, though, and he prayed that Gehazi would become able to see with him the greater army. Gehazi’s eyes were opened to spiritual reality that was present, but previously not visible.

No matter what you see when you look around in any environment, whether boring or threatening, always ask for the Spirit of Life to open your eyes to everything you can’t yet see or hear or know. We are only trusted with some things when we ask, seek, and knock. When we keep asking, we will receive. When we keep looking, we will find. When we keep knocking, we will find the door opened to us – not just to look through, but to enter in.
