Pleasing God

Those whose lives are in the flesh are unable to please God. You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
(Romans 8:8-9 Holman Christian Standard Bible ©®)

And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(Galatians 5:24-25 NKJV)

Whether you are approaching Jesus to worship Him, approaching an unbeliever to lead her to Jesus, or approaching a demoniac to bring him deliverance, you need to be “in the Spirit.” It means being under His influence; being submitted to His ways and His strategies and His power. “In the flesh” means being under the influence of my flesh, where sin lives (Romans 7:17-25), and where death reigns by misleading me from the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
