Consistency

I have been intending to play guitar for a bit more than a decade. By that, I mean that I have been working at it – learning chords, and how to tune it, and how to string it, and how to strum it. I don’t have much time to apply to the project, but because I spend at least 10 minutes at it daily, my consistency is making up for my lack of large amounts of time being applied to it. I can, in fact, play much better than I could when I first attempted to play. My fingers don’t hurt as quickly as they did in the beginning. I would even say that I can now impress a 10 year old with my skills.

I suggest that this dynamic can be applied to our skills of deciding to allow the Holy Spirit to empower our answers to situations we face. Memorizing the fruit of the Spirit is a good start. Then, spend a week or a month on each one, thinking about all the ways it could improve your responses – first to opportunities, then to challenges. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you what is in His mind regarding each one. Ask Him to make you as quick as a humming bird to access His power through them, bypassing bad responses or no responses with successful responses.

He is the best Teacher ever.
