Asking for Samuel

Hannah was prevented by Yahweh from bearing children. Her husband Elkanah’s other wife, Peninnah, would insult and torment Hannah. Peninnah had sons and daughters by Elkanah.

Hannah cried out, “Yahweh Sabaoth (“IAM Commander of Hosts”), if You pay attention to my pain, and remember me, don’t forget me – give Your servant a son. If You do, I will give him to Yahweh all his days, and his hair will never be cut.” (1 Samuel 1) Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to Samuel, who became a prophet. He spoke with authority and certain revelation. He anointed David to be the king whose throne would be the ruling place of Jesus.

When you pray, expect to be heard. Ask the Spirit what to pray, and expect to be told. Expect the answers to your prayers to have effects of goodness and blessing for generations and for eternity. Be filled with faith that obtains power that is from the Word of God and from the age to come (Hebrews 6:5).
