Effective Rain

Water that is in motion is working. Either it is causing erosion, by which it can change landscape or the path of a river, or it is harnessed and its energy converted to working for humans.

If it condenses as rain and falls on the ground, it causes life to be produced in seeds and plants.

If it sits still, it only stinks or evaporates. Even these two actions are work in a sense – growing bacteria, and moving to a more effective location – but human benefits are missing.

“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”
