Overcoming Evil

Soldiers are trained to kill invaders and oppressors.
Police are trained to maintain peace and protect citizens.
Evangelists are trained to lay down their lives to make good news about salvation known to unbelievers.

All three activities are potential assignments that the King of Heaven and Earth might give to any of His servants. Knowing your purpose is important. Knowing that other people’s purposes are possibly quite different from yours is important. Paul prophesied that anyone who has been put in a position of authority in the earth was set in a place that was ordained by God (Romans 13:1-7).

Yahweh still uses might to overcome evil. When He uses believers, He may assign some to be in positions of a type of authority that are this kind of work. Yahweh’s preference seems to be overcoming evil with good. He uses believers for this work, too. We can’t tell by style of work what Yahweh is doing or not doing. We need revelation from His throne.

Even after being born of Him, after which we are able to see His Kingdom (John 3:3), we still need to be paying attention, and sometimes we need to ask, seek, and knock.
