Cross to Glory

When things are going wrong by earthly standards, it is time to take account of them from an eternal standard. When we seem to be losing, it is time to ask Jesus if He is losing. I would expect Him to always have the same answer.

When Judas was at the table with Jesus and the disciples, Jesus sent him out to betray Him. When Jesus and the disciples were in the garden, and Judas appeared with soldiers, Jesus moved away from the disciples to meet Judas. The physical cringing that caused Him to sweat blood He had already processed in prayer, so that He was ready to meet the earthly “going wrong” stuff face-to-face, and with authority.

Part of our day-starting prayer might well be, “Lord, make me able to face every thing that happens today with expectation that you will make me more than a conqueror; make me able to stand in Your victory, and to consider all my weakness as space for Your strength. Lead me past my cross to Your glory.”
