A Reason For The Law

Unless you are a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you are not a person to whom Yahweh gave the covenant you can read about in Exodus. That covenant made the descendants of Jacob a nation, ruled over by Yahweh. The covenant was basically law, given to the new nation through Moses. Perhaps He gave you a special revelation regarding this, but apart from such, if you are a Gentile, you were given laws other than the “ten commandments” and hundreds of other laws recorded by Moses (Romans 2:14).

That doesn’t mean that the law is useless to you, though. Instructions regarding how a vehicle works make me able to use it for travel or work in ways that the inventors and builders would have no knowledge of when they made it. Knowing how to read its instruments and control its power make me able to use it. Knowledge of Yahweh’s values and character and purposes make me better able to follow His leadership and correction and to receive His comfort.

The cross has made you approved in Heaven and in Earth. Study, to show yourself approved (2 Timothy 2:15).
