Useful Pain

No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Therefore strengthen your tired hands and weakened knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but healed instead.

(Hebrews 12:11-13 Holman Christian Standard Bible®©)

Co-operation between yourself and your Lord is what causes the difficulties in your life to become beneficial to you. Pain can just be pain. There is no guarantee that trouble in your life will produce a good thing. “Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.”

Staying focused on straight paths helps change the results of pain in your life from being dislocation and unhealed injury, to becoming healed and strong. Intending to be trained will improve the likelihood that your pain will be valuable and beneficial.
