Doing the Work

It has always seemed strange to me that Yahweh asked Moses (Exodus 14:15) “Why are you crying out to Me?” Crying out to the Source of my Strength and Salvation and Life always seems like the right thing to do, heh?

How much of what we ask Jesus to do for us in our lives is actually stuff He is expecting us to take care of? How is it that when the disciples in the capsizing boat asked Jesus to do something about it, His response included a challenge regarding their faith? Didn’t they ask Jesus to fix it instead of calling the National Weather Service? Did they call the Coast Guard instead of trusting Jesus? They asked Him!

He, however, was clearly thinking that they should have handled it. How small does that make your faith feel? No matter – when Peter had just walked on water, Jesus told him he only had a small amount of faith, too. So – get the clue: it doesn’t take much.

Perhaps the key is simply in whether we are using it or not. Ask the Spirit some questions about that… Then, be awesome!
