A Familiar Thief

Self-pity is a thief. It steals emotional energy. It steals purposeful work. It steals opportunities to manifest the Lord of the Cross in the earth. It steals revelation by distracting us from both asking for and being able to hear answers from the Lord of Wisdom.

It cannot be converted to better behavior. Like the rationale from the wild west in earlier US history, a horse thief has no conscience, and must be hung. Do not negotiate to make deals with it. Do not listen to its pleas for what it calls justice or comfort.

Take off its head and thank your God that He made provision for protection from its sting and healing from its poison.

Let this mind be in you, that was in Jesus: He didn’t consider it robbery to be thrust into the earth, even though He had the same nature as Yahweh. He humbly submitted His life to the use of the One He loved, and He therefore overcame all to receive all (Philippians 2:5-18).
