Evidence

There are, it may be, so many kinds of languages in the world, and none of them is without significance. Therefore, if I do not know the meaning of the language, I shall be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me. Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.

Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
1 Corinthians 14:10-15 NKJV

I got thrown out of a ministry once for refusing to sign a doctrinal statement that included the idea that a believer has not been baptized in the Spirit of God if he/she has not exhibited “the” evidence of having spoken in tongues. The erroneous emphasis on the gift of tongues being “the” only appropriate evidence of having been filled with the Spirit was what I disagreed with. Some people who Luke described having been baptized in the Spirit prophesied as their “evidence.” (Luke 1:67; Acts 4:31; 19:6)

I suggest that you ask the Spirit for the privilege of both prophesying and of speaking in tongues. As an extra, I suggest with Paul that you ask God that you may interpret tongues. Yours and other peoples’ tongues.

When you get the gift of interpretation, don’t be discouraged if most of what you hear spoken in tongues turns out to be just the noise of people trying to avoid being accused of not being able to prove that they have been baptized in the Spirit. Religion is everywhere…

If you want to know if someone has been baptized in the Spirit, look for the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5). Agape, peace & patience are harder to fake than tongues or prophecy.
