In The Name of Jesus

In Acts 3:16, Luke quoted Peter as saying that it was the name of Jesus that healed the lame man who was begging at the Beautiful Gate and made him able to walk. That means that the name has power.

Paul, writing to the congregations in Colossae, instructed them to do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17). That sounds more like us representing Him than us using the power of His name.

Salvation is in His name, as Luke quotes Peter during his answer to the Sanhedrin about having healed the man at the Beautiful Gate (Acts 4:11-12).

These truths make me believe that we should speak His name at every opportunity, not just “in the name of Christ,” for example, but “in the name of Jesus.” There is power in “The Salvation of Yah,” (that’s what the names Yeshua, or Joshua mean).
