Praying Like Jonah

I don’t believe Jonah loved the citizens of Nineveh.

My interpretation of his story is that he refused to warn them of Yahweh’s announcement of judging them. When he repented and finally went to preach to them, he simply condemned them. When they repented and Yahweh relented, he was annoyed that his prophetic word about their destruction hadn’t come to pass.

I’ve heard many people repeat the famous quote by the famous Christian, “If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.” What does your heart say?

If Yahweh had met with you for lunch on His way to Sodom that day, what would your response have been? What would Yahweh’s response to Abraham have been if he had continued to intercede until he was asking for mercy on the cities on behalf of one righteous person?
