Human Designs

Perhaps you are not old enough to remember 8-track tapes. When they were invented, they were great tech advances because they were portable, compact, easy to encode clear stereo onto, and could be used in some recorders and players for all 8 tracks at once, for mixing master recordings. They were loops, so they never ended – they just kept repeating. This was much better than the reel-to-reel wheels of tape that played through and then had to be re-wound before being played again.

Like many things humans have designed, though, their design caused them to self-destruct. They would get tighter and tighter until they popped, or they would get looser and looser until the tape spewed into the player and wrapped around the turnstiles. And then they would pop.

Life that we have engineered is designed to self-destruct. Life that Jesus has engineered is abundant. It brings freedom and health and provision and protection. Look to His leadership for every decision. Look to His provision for every need. Look to His discipline and become His disciple. That’s where the treasure is.
