Costly Proximity

Approaching Yahweh always required death. Bulls, goats, and for the poorest citizens, birds, had to be sacrificed and blood presented.

The blood that Jesus presented was so perfect a sacrifice that the manner of death changed with His offering. Now, death is still required, but the resurrection is applied to each life’s offering. We are now living sacrifices. We lay down our lives as offerings, and take them up to live them as offerings.

Therefore, offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and and acceptable to Him. It is reasonable. It is worship. Don’t live like unbelievers do, under the influence of a thousand stupid, temporary, wasteful things. Allow Him to transform you by giving you a renewed mind. He can give you the ability to see His will and understand what makes it good (Romans 12:1-2).
