Proper Surrender

Jesus, your King, never surrendered to anyone but His Father.

When it was time to be betrayed, He instructed Judas regarding his part in the process. When it was time to be handed over to the leaders of the nation, He was clearly in charge: declaring “I AM” threw His adversaries on their backs on the ground. When He was handed over to the local representatives of the empire, He revealed to them that His Father had handed Him over to them. He picked up His cross and carried it to the place where He offered Himself on it to His Father as a sacrifice for us.

That is instruction for us as His followers – never surrender to anyone but Him. That is also instruction regarding the appearance of such surrender – it looked like He was surrendering to everyone.

Love is power, even when it is serving.
