A Happy Harvest
Don’t judge, and you won’t be judged.
Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Give, and you will receive gifts —
the full measure, compacted, shaken together and overflowing, will be put right in your lap. For the measure with which you measure out will be used to measure back to you!
Luke 6:37-38 Complete Jewish Bible
What we freely hand out to others, based on our generosity, disregarding what they deserve, will be available to us on another day – when we need it. It seems to me that an important part of the process needs to be that we really do sow it – throw it to the ground and expect it to die and be gone from our possession.
Much instruction being pressed upon the church today declares that if I want 100 of something, I should give 1 of them to some ministry. I had a ministry give me a check for $100 once that the signer had written above her signature, “money cometh to:”. I asked the Spirit what to do with it, and sensed that He told me not to cooperate with the witchcraft. She was poking a hundred dollar bill in a spiritual machine expecting it to have two more zeroes on the end of it when it popped out the other end.
If I am simply pretending to have given it away, and really am only saving it for a rainy day, that might make it like yesterday’s manna – when I need it, it may have rotted…
Receive freely; give freely. Expect your God to attend to your needs as you cooperate with His provisions to others. He gives seed to the sower.
