What the King Believes to be Possible
One day, Jesus had been teaching many people for hours (Mark 6:30-44). His disciples suggested that He send the people away to find food. He responded to their idea with a better idea: “You feed them!”
Another day, Jesus had been teaching many people for three days (Mark 8:1-9). Jesus shared His concern with His disciples that the people were hungry. For some reason, they couldn’t think of a way to feed them.
Each time, Jesus told them to bring Him what they had, and He blessed it so that it was enough to do what needed to be done. I am sure of two things: that He wants to take what little preparation and provision we have for ministry and bless it and multiply it and make it become more than enough, and that we don’t have any ideas about how He could do that. We frequently act like we expect not to be used or not to find provision or not to have to stick our necks out being involved in something that might not work.
Make us able to grasp what You see being possible, Lord, and make us able to give you our pitiful stuff so that you can bless people through our presence and our co-operation with Your intentions for them. Thank You for the hope that it will be so.
