Philippians 4:19
And you, Philippians, know that in the early days of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone. For even in Thessalonica you sent gifts for my need several times. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that is increasing to your account. But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you provided—a fragrant offering, a welcome sacrifice, pleasing to God.

A paraphrase of that paragraph might go well as: “You people have blessed me many times with gifts, so that all my needs have been met. I am looking for your gifts to me to become a credit in your account, so that…”
When “My God will supply all of your needs” follows that, it is clearly related to the first part as a contingency: “When you blessed me, you put yourself in a position or a condition in which the Holy Spirit could freely bless you.” Disciplines do that when they are done well.
Praying, studying the Book, fasting, giving, serving, blessing, worshiping, and the rest of the spiritual disciplines are only really effective in blessing me if they put me in a position or a condition in which the Holy Spirit can change me into the likeness of Jesus. In Paul’s letter to Philippi, verse 19 is his prophesied result of verses 15 through 18. Without the discipline and his prophetic blessing, using verse 19 the way we usually do amounts to hoping for good luck.
