Delicious Dirt

I had some delicious dirt at lunch yesterday.

It was converted dirt. Though it was once just dirt, and on good days wet dirt, a kernel of corn was dropped in it. The kernel of corn converted the dirt into a root on one end and a plant on the other end. The root took dirt and made it into the plant, and the plant made it into more corn. It was really delicious. My Dad’s recipe.

I am experiencing conversion by another of His recipes. I was once a son of Adam who was full of sin and bitterness and deceit and thievery. Jesus was dropped into the dirt that made up my life, though. Now, He is drawing me out of the dirt and into the Vine of His Life and causing me to be fruit.

The more I allow the rain and the manure and sun that fall on my dirt to affect it and allow myself to be drawn into His Life, the more I become valuable and the more I become a container of Life and provision. Be co-operative. Be awesome!

For this reason also, since the day we heard this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light. He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
