Influencing Generations
Who introduced Abraham to Yahweh? Noah was the tenth generation from Adam. Abraham was the tenth generation from Noah. Adam died 126 years before Noah was born. Noah died 2 years before Abraham was born. Apparently, since there was no written Scripture until Moses, the oral tradition of history was maintained pretty accurately. People didn’t have much information they were responsible for – no passwords or phone numbers or addresses or such.
One of the most powerful influences on culture, even today, is traditions of faith and values that are passed from one generation to another by families. One of the targets of the enemies of the Kingdom of Heaven is that environment – the family set of relationships.
You may not have children, but there are probably younger believers and unbelievers with whom you have some measure of influence. Taking every opportunity to share the peer influence of your faith and your values will likely cause some of who you are in Christ to make a mark on who they are or could be in Christ.
Pray for opportunities. Pray for courage and boldness. Pray for openness and teachability. Then be awesome.
