An Open Book
If we didn’t have the Scriptures, we would still have the Spirit Who inSpired the people who wrote what became the Scriptures.
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob each lived their entire life with no Scripture. Joseph had no Scriptures. For several hundred years after the resurrection of Jesus, no one had a “New Testament.”
Now, however, we do have the Scriptures. So read them. Study them. Memorize some of them. Meditate on them. Ask the Spirit to explain them.
But don’t settle for them. The Pharisees memorized them. Completely. They would not listen to the Spirit, though, so they could not understand them. Life is an open-book test. Don’t be too distracted or undisciplined to be serious about the Book. Most people read love letters more than once.
