Spiritual Competency
We have this kind of confidence toward God through Christ: not that we are competent in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our competence is from God. He has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit produces life.
(2 Corinthians 3:4-6 Holman Christian Standard Bible ©®)
The idea that a person needs to go to a university and then to a seminary before being competent to be a minister (=servant) is an idea that was produced in the dual environments of the business of selling degrees and the business of controlling Yahweh’s people. The Spirit qualifies and prepares you to serve Him. The sons of Sceva proved that you cannot learn the supernatural. You have to be empowered to it.
Of course you need to study, and of course you need to practice, but many people who studied hard and practiced long have no competency with regard to service in the work of offering Life to unbelievers.
Be filled with the Spirit Who has the gifts. Be gifted. Be effective.
