Eclipsing Venus
Recently, Venus has been the brightest thing in the sky after the sun and the moon. The sun is so much brighter though, that when it rises, Venus becomes invisible. The brightness of the sun causes other lights to be like shadows.
Loving Jesus will eclipse other objects of my love. The contrast is as if my love for other things or people has become hatred of them – as if that love loses all its strength.
When I allow His love into my heart, He uses my heart to love others with the kind of power His love has for them. In that place of loving Him with all I have and all I am, I become empowered to love my neighbor with a perfected love.
Now great crowds were traveling with Him. So He turned and said to them: “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, and even his own life—he cannot be My disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.
