Waiting for the Fire

Our God is an All-Consuming-Fire. Everything but Him is of Him, through Him, and for Him. While we wait through the fire of threats of rejection, accusation, loss, fear, hard work, abandonment, and every other evil the world can empower against us, we are waiting for the fire that can empower us against the evil. When the followers of Jesus were told to wait until they had received power, 120 of them were faithful to wait together.

Maybe others were waiting in other hiding places; He did not tell them to wait together. As Moses replied to Joshua’s complaint that Medad and Eldad were prophesying away from the gathering where the outpouring was, “I wish all God’s people would prophesy!” As Jesus replied when some of His disciples were reporting that they had stopped some people who weren’t graduates of Jesus’ academy from casting demons out of other people in Jesus’ name, “Whoever is not against us is for us.”

Do not worry about what others are doing or what they aren’t doing. Waiting through the fires that threaten us will be more than worth it when we are consumed by the fire that empowers us. Again and again, just as the outpouring in Acts 2 was repeated in Acts 4, we need to wait through the new fires to be baptized with more of the Eternal Fire. Every time you receive more power, bring more light and life and love into the earth. Manifest the Kingdom of Heaven – it’s culture, it’s life, it’s power. Be more awesome today than you were yesterday.
