Good Days, Bad Days
As children, we were taught that some days were magical. We were led by parents and peers to look forward to a celebration, a reward, a graduation. Christmas, Easter, birthdays, Halloween, Valentine’s Day – all these days felt different from “regular” days.
Some days held darker power, like the last day of school before summer, when we would see friends for the last time for several months. Sunday evenings always had the dread of Monday morning’s early alarm to be ready for school.
On the “good” days, our hopes were raised to expectation that was rarely satisfied with the hopes we had placed in them being realized. On the “bad” days, we were surprised by the power of the sadness.
For most believers, Sunday has a different feeling from Thursday or Tuesday. Friday feels better than Monday. Each day has its benefits and its costs, and the power we need to be able to face disappointments from each one and to receive benefits from each one comes through our intimacy with the Spirit of Jesus. Expecting to sing a few songs and hear a sermon and see some friends on Sunday to empower us to Life and victory through the rest of the days looks like eating a decent meal on one day and stale bread for 6 days.
Disciples are made by discipline. Starting our days with acknowledgement of the Lordship of our King is valuable. By acknowledgement, I am not suggesting a declaration that “Jesus is Lord,” but the sanctification of all my knowledge with the surrender of it and myself with it to the ownership, the command, the surrender to all of the desires of my Savior as, more importantly, my King. Alignment of my self and my life and my relationships with His love and His desires will make them able to be aligned with His protection and provision and His purposes.
“I am Yours, Lord, and nothing I am or have as possession or purpose has value unless it is aligned with Your Lordship. Align me, and keep me. You are worthy to lead me! Thank You for loving me so much that you will!”
Keep refreshing that mindset through the day. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and you will have put yourself in a position and condition in which He will direct your path…
