Stand

We don’t have to wait until the battles in life are over to have victory. Jesus already won a victory that overcame the world. He embarrassed His enemies at the cross and the grave.

The place where we fight is maintaining our position of victory. The first evidence we may see of it most days is that we have peace even in the midst of the battles. King David prophesied many things that would become possible because the blood on the cross made them possible. One of these was that our Shepherd would prepare a meal for us that our enemies have to watch us enjoy.

In Paul’s imagination, our feet are prepared to run to battle and to stand in battle by the preparation that peace offers. Stand, therefore.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
